Fixtures and fittings

A dead ceiling fan, a running toilet, a bent blind. We swap the part or the fixture for the same kind and test it. Work that moves wire or pipe inside a wall goes to a licensed trade.

A work order here covers

  • Light fixtures and ceiling fans swapped for the same kind

  • Blinds, curtain rods and shelves hung or replaced

  • Toilet parts: flapper, fill valve, seat and supply line

  • Faucet cartridges, aerators and shower heads

  • Smoke and CO alarm swaps, with a test of each

Time on site

What decides how long the job takes

There is no price list for a single repair. The plan we text back says what we expect before anyone drives over.

  • Same kind, same place

A fixture swapped onto existing wiring is quick. Moving it, or adding one, is an electrician's job.

  • The parts

Toilet and faucet parts are common sizes. An older faucet with no parts made for it is replaced, and the plan says so.

  • Ceiling height

A high stairwell fixture needs a taller ladder and a second person. We list that in the plan.

Rules

When a job goes to someone else

Permits and licenses decide what a handyman may do. We tell you early.

  • Electrical and plumbing work in the wall

Nevada requires a license for it. We do like-for-like swaps that don't change wire or pipe, and send the rest out.

  • Water heaters and air conditioners

These are plumbing and air conditioning trades. We don't touch them, and we'll give you a name if you ask.

  • Alarms in your fire plan

We swap a battery or a unit like for like. Hardwired panels and monitored systems belong to the company that installed them.

Questions about this work

Can you replace a light fixture?

Yes, for the same kind in the same place, on the existing wiring. If the box or wire is damaged, we stop and send it to an electrician.

A toilet keeps running. Is that you?

Usually yes: it's often a flapper or fill valve. A leaking base or a cracked bowl is a plumber's call.

Do you carry the parts?

The common ones. The plan says if a part has to be ordered, and when it should arrive.
